The room is large and spacious, designed and equipped for the developing toddler with bright and colourful decoration to encourage an inquisitive mind. It provides a separate area for messy play, a large area for floor play, building and constructing and an imaginative play area. Additional developmental activities are incorporated into the toddlers play centred day. The children are offered a large range of free play activities and are able to manoeuvre around these at their own pace. All equipment and activities offered promote all areas of learning.
As the toddler becomes more able and independent we will respond with a focus on self-managed activities as part of day to day play, such as dressing up, ‘cooking’ in the home corner and group play. All of which are essential to their growing and life skills. ‘Messy play’, hide and seek and memory games are also introduced. Safely managed, these activities encourage respect, co-operation, personal choice and of course they are lots of fun! We also have a quiet area for story time and sleeping.
The children have access to the bathroom where there are facilities for nappy changing and toilet training.
